Washington School Career Day

Washington Community School in Plainfield NJ celebrated their annual Career Day May 31, 2007.  In attendance was (the keynote speaker) Mayor Sharon Robinson Briggs. She motivated the children with words of encouragement and also stressed the importance of keeping the city clean and safe. Ashley Marie Johnson, Valedictorian of Plainfield High School Class of 2007 spoke about the importance of education and perseverance in the Plainfield Community. She highlighted the many positive opportunities available in the Plainfield School system.  In addition, many talented professionals including the Plainfield Firemen, police officers and EMS squad came to speak to the children about their careers.  The students and staff were dazzled by the Plainfield High School ROTC, led by Captain Gmitter, and the Plainfield High School Marching Band, directed by Gregory Williams. In the words of Anthony Jenkins, Principal of Washington Community School, “We know this experience left an indelible impression on our students.”
