K-5 Curriculum
The elementary science instructional program provides opportunities for students to develop understandings and skills necessary to function productively as problem-solvers in a scientific and technological world. Students are constantly involved in the exploration and inquiry-based investigation of scientific concepts.
Standards-based curriculum aligned with the National Science Education Standards and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards is utilized in all elementary schools. The curriculum focuses on four strands: Physical Science, Life Science, Earth Science, and Process Skills. Experimental activities, science kits, content software, problem based learning, and various community resources are used in the implementation of the curriculum.
